Common questions
What does GolfTracker cost?
Starter is free with a 3.5% platform fee on money raised. Pro is $299 per event and drops the fee to 2%. White-Label is $1,750 per year, runs on your own Stripe account, and takes no platform fee at all.
How is GolfTracker different from GolfStatus?
GolfStatus is the closest competitor. It is genuinely strong on sponsorship, and its free app has GPS yardage and scoring for casual rounds. The practical difference is access and money: GolfStatus does not publish its transaction fee, starts you through a demo-request form, and holds event funds until you ask for a payout. GolfTracker publishes every price and lets you build your event site the same day you sign up.
Is GolfTracker cheaper than Event Caddy?
It depends on field size and entry fee, so the arithmetic is worth doing. Event Caddy adds $4 to every player's registration on top of card processing, and its live scoring needs the $299-per-tournament PRO plan. At 144 players the per-player charge alone is $576. GolfTracker has no per-player fee and includes live scoring on the free Starter plan; Pro is a flat $299 and cuts the platform fee to 2%.
Can organizers see if a score was changed?
Yes. GolfTracker keeps a record of every score changed after it was first entered: who changed it, which hole, the old and new score, and when. Organizers see that record in Live Scoring, with their own overrides marked as theirs. None of the other five platforms here publishes a record of changed scores.
Does GolfTracker have an AI caddie?
Yes, Bogey. At a GolfTracker tournament, players ask the event website's chat who's leading or where their team stands, and Bogey answers from the official leaderboard. If the organizer keeps the leaderboard private, Bogey keeps it private too. Golfers also use Bogey in the GolfTracker app, and on golf trips and group rounds on golftracker.ai, at no extra charge.
What do golfers get between events?
A free score tracker for everyday rounds, with stats, a handicap estimate (worked out the World Handicap System way from their own rounds, not an official USGA or GHIN index), side games settled up and GPS shot distances in the app, friends and saved crews, invite links, and golf trips with team cup standings.
Do players need to download an app?
No. Players open a link. There is an optional mobile app for staff and golfers, but scoring, GPS yardage and the leaderboard all work in a phone browser.
Which golf tournament platforms work on Apple Watch and Wear OS?
GolfTracker has its own free watch app on both Apple Watch and Wear OS, with yardage to the front, middle and back of the green, shot tracking and scoring, on the same round as the phone. Among the other five, only Golf Genius has a watch option, through its Golfshot app, where watch GPS is free and scoring on the watch needs Golfshot Pro. GolfStatus, Event Caddy, BirdEase and Perfect Golf Event have no watch app.
What happens when there is no signal on the course?
Scores and any sales taken at the registration desk are stored on the device and sync when the connection returns. Everything event-critical also prints, because the fallback for a technology failure cannot be more technology.
Who is GolfTracker built for?
Charity and corporate tournament organizers, typically running one to a few events a year, and the golfers who play in them. It was built by the team behind the Arizona Golf Classic out of the tools they needed and could not buy at a sensible price.
