Set it up on the web the night before or in the app on the first tee. Scoring happens on your phone, in the app.

Search by name and town. If nobody has played it on GolfTracker yet, we find the course's own scorecard and you confirm it.

Questions about golf scoring apps
Is there a free golf scoring app?
Yes. GolfTracker is free for golfers, with no paid tier to upgrade to and no card asked for: scoring hole by hole, the shared leaderboard, side games, GPS shot distances and your round history are all included. It is paid for by the clubs and charities that run tournaments on it.
Can one golf scoring app keep score for my whole group?
Yes. Start the round, tap Invite and text the link to your group. Everyone who joins keeps their own scorecard in their own history, and the whole group watches one leaderboard for that round.
Do my playing partners need the app to see the leaderboard?
No. The round's leaderboard opens in any phone's browser from the invite link, so someone without the app can still follow the scores. To keep their own card in their own history, they join with an email address.
Can GolfTracker keep score for skins, a Nassau and match play?
Yes. Set up skins, a Nassau or match play for your group with a stake per game, or just track them for nothing. Bogey, the AI caddie, tallies them hole by hole — skins with carryovers, all three Nassau bets, holes up in match play — nets out who owes whom across every game, and logs any score changed after it was entered so the group can see it. GolfTracker never handles the money; it tells you the numbers and you settle up. Side games and Bogey are in the GolfTracker app.
How does GolfTracker stop people changing their scores?
Every score changed after it was first entered is kept on a permanent record: who changed it, which hole, the old score, the new score and the time. Everyone in the round or on the trip can see that record and can ask Bogey, the AI caddie, whether anyone changed a score. At a tournament the organizer sees every change in Live Scoring, and an organizer's own overrides are marked as the organizer's. A change after the final result re-announces the corrected result to the group.
Does the golf scoring app work without cell service?
Yes. Scores are entered and stored on your phone and sync by themselves when you get a signal back, so a hole with no bars is scored exactly like any other.
Can I score a course that isn't in the app yet?
Yes. Type the course name and its town, and GolfTracker finds that course's own published scorecard, reads the par and stroke index for every hole, and shows it to you to confirm before you play.
Is GolfTracker on iPhone and Android?
GolfTracker's scoring app is on Google Play now. On iPhone, the App Store update that scores your own rounds is in Apple's review; you can create your account and set up your course on the web today, and they will be waiting in the app.
What is Bogey, the GolfTracker AI caddie?
Bogey is GolfTracker's AI caddie. Ask it who's winning, who's up in the Nassau, who has the most skins or who owes what, and it answers from GolfTracker's scoring engine — the same numbers as the leaderboard and the settle-up, never a guess. It reports the standings at the turn and at the finish, and it keeps a record of every score changed after it was entered: who changed it, which hole, the old and new score, and when. Bogey is in the GolfTracker app and in golf trips on golftracker.ai.
Does GolfTracker calculate a handicap?
GolfTracker gives you a handicap estimate, not an official USGA/GHIN handicap index. It is worked out the World Handicap System way from your own 18-hole rounds once you have three, and it sharpens when you add each round's course rating and slope.
