How to Set Up Pairings and Live Scoring

Pairings & Scoring builds your tee-time groups, and Live Scoring configures the course data — par and handicap index by hole — that powers your public leaderboard. Both live under Event Setup, and together they're what turns a tee sheet into a real-time scoring event.

Step 1: Add your groups in Pairings & Scoring

Click Add Group, set a group number, tee time and starting hole, choose a session (Main Tournament or a separate session like Afternoon Golf), and list up to four players with their handicaps.

Step 2: Or let AI suggest pairings

AI Suggest Pairings builds groups automatically from your registered players — a fast starting point you can still hand-edit afterward.

Step 3: Confirm your course setup in Live Scoring

Open Live Scoring → Course Setup and check the par and handicap index for each hole. GolfTracker starts new courses with sensible defaults (typically par 4 across the board) so you're editing real numbers, not filling in blanks from scratch.

Step 4: Use AI Scorecard Import for a faster course setup

Upload a photo or PDF of the physical scorecard, and GolfTracker reads par and handicap index for every hole automatically.

Step 5: Check hole sponsors and course rotation

If your event uses more than one nine or a shotgun format, Course Rotation and Hole Sponsors (also under Live Scoring) round out the setup — both optional depending on your format.

Step 6: Watch it live

Once scores start coming in, View Live Leaderboard shows your public-facing board updating in real time, and the Live Scoring dashboard tracks how many scorecards have started versus not yet begun.
